Potential

Oh, how much potential I have. That may sound kind of self centered but its true. Over my summer I did a lot of things: holding club meetings, working on college applications, doing SAT practice, designing and 3D printing, working in an internship, the list goes on and on.

Back in September 2020, I had worked with my club to design walkers based on Theo Jansen's Strandbeest. We then proceed to 3D print and assemble them into fully functional walking bugs. I drastically overestimated our potential, thinking that we would be able to finish everyone's walker in time for a race at the end of the school year. With multiple delays due to our first walkers stalling, the race was postponed until finally, at the end of summer break we were able to assemble two functional walkers and race them.

Now that school is back, our completed walker project has been on my mind a lot. I often think about how I can take this concept to the next level. I'm excited to see if I will be able to create another form of walker in this engineering class: perhaps an exosuit that can be used to help disabled people get around again.

Overall I hope that nothing this year gets in the way of my potential. Distractions come and go; I just hope they don't throw me off of my path to success. I'm excited to see where my imagination takes me this year and beyond.
